Glencoe is an amazing place - internationally famous for its amazing landscape, its natural and cultural heritage. It’s a place of towering, spectacular, brooding hills, diverse and rare wildlife and of a famous yet tragic event in Scotland’s history.
Despite its bloody past, Glencoe has a fascinating history going back 350 million years when it was a volcanic crater measuring 5 miles (8 km) in diameter. These volcanic origins, later sculpted by ice and water, have resulted in the spectacular mountains which are a haven for walkers, climbers, mountaineers, skiers, and sightseers.
